José Carpio-Pinedo
Jose Carpio-Pinedo holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning and a Master’s in Architecture from Madrid Polytechnic University (UPM). He is a researcher at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a research fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, and a lecturer at Universidad de Salamanca’s MSc in Smart Cities. His research has been awarded at the Ford Fund Smart Mobility Challenge (2020) and at the Madrid Urban Economy Research Award.
Jose is also a planning and transport consultant, and has worked for Atkins Ltd., London, and the Madrid Public Transport Authority. He is an expert in the application of innovative tools and data in urban planning and design, focussing on sustainable mobility, walkability, urban economy, and land use-transport coordination.
